Two weeks ago, The Boston Globe announced it will be splitting its digital property into two websites, each with a different and specific strategy. Boston.com will remain free and be more about “all things Boston” while integrating “breaking news” into the content. BostonGlobe.com will become a paid subscription site that will feature the content/stories produced by the Globe’s journalists.
This past Friday, I had a chance to talk with Chris Mayer, Publisher of The Boston Globe, about the Globe’s digital strategy and his perspectives on social media as part of news reporting.
The evolution of news & journalism continues to be a hot topic. It’s interesting to look back on the post I did over a year ago covering Media Bistro’s “Evolution of Journalism” panel and see how much is coming true (and how much/how fast the landscape has/is changing).
