To say that I'm in denial about the fact that in a matter of hours Google Reader will be no more would be an understatement. I secretly hope to wake up tomorrow morning welcomed by what has come to be my most trusted curator of the world of marketing news for the past 6 years.
Google reader is the first thing I check in the morning as I reach for my iPad the moment I wake up...and it's the last thing I check before going to bed each night. While there are a growing number of alternatives, none seem to do consistently well what I use Google Reader for the most - tagging.
As I scan headlines, I tag particular posts based on what I know I'll need to reference at a later point. Tagging (and then retrieving tagged posts) has been a huge time saver for me for doing research, prepping for presentations, and sharing information with others.
Although Feedly allows for tags on its web version, The Feedly iOS app does not yet support tagging. Since I had been spending more time with Google Reader on my mobile devices (iPhone & iPad) versus desktop, this is the biggest loss, for me, in the wake of Google Reader's death.
