For a while, now, I’ve been fascinated with the use of mobile devices as “remotes” to control various things (probably having to do with my obsession with RC cars as a kid). Here are a five of my favorites.
1. The Chevy Volt iPhone App
This is an app that controls your cars charge, locks/unlocks it and sounds the horn.
2. GoogleTV Android Remote Control App
Easily search for and change channels (through text and voice commands), share content from small screen to big screen.
3. OnOne DSLR Camera iPhone & iPad Remote
Very cool app that controls your Nikon or Cannon DSLR cameras remotely through your iPhone and, now, your iPad. See how this wedding photographer uses it.
4. TouchTones Jukebox Remote Control
Go to 1 of 45,000 bars that have the TouchTones jukeboxes and search, select, & choose your favorite songs to play on them using your phone.
5. Xfinity iPad Remote
I’ve already blogged about this one, but there’s something very liberating about being able to set your DVR from anywhere.
One of the greatest powers of mobile has to do with the fact that we carry our devices with us most of the time. Brands are just starting to take advantage of the accessibility this affords us to provide real utility and control through portability.
Did I miss any of your favorite mobile remote control apps? Leave a comment with links to your top ones.
Wonder if the Xfinity iPad app inspired/prompted the FiOS app for iPhone. Interesting cross promotion for a phone now available from VZW. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5kv7xjoLBo
I'm also a particular fan of the Apple Remote app, which controls iTunes along with a multitude of remote AirTunes speakers. Fantastic tool at parties where friends can make song requests from their own iPhones. http://www.apple.com/itunes/remote/

Some time before, I really needed to buy a building for my organization but I didn't earn enough cash and couldn't buy anything. Thank goodness my comrade adviced to try to take the loan from reliable creditors. Thus, I did so and used to be satisfied with my short term loan.
